Lately, I've been made keenly aware of my surroundings as I observe the hustle and bustle of downtown Seattle. One recent incident hits particularly close to home for me, as it occurred a few blocks from where I work and from my bus stop. A completely random and sensless attack, but it makes me think that I need to be aware of my surroundings.
In the past week, I've also had homeless people bark at people as they pass on the street in an attempt to get money, and have witnessed another homeless person proclaiming that people "hated his race" because they chose to not put money in his coffee cup.
What's going on on the streets of Seattle, folks? Have we lost our compassion as well as our sense of humanity? Why has it come down to barking, lighting people on fire, and yelling for our homeless?
