What If Noone Reads Your Blog?
Marketing giant Seth Godin mused today about the ramifications of blogging without an audience. I wonder, though, as a non-business blogger (at least on this blog) if it's okay to not have an audience... it makes it feel more personal to me, because I'm writing for myself, not for the people reading my posts and random musings. Thoughts?
When I first started blogging, I did mainly for myself. When you blog for yourself you don't have all those little voices in your head saying, "Ah, that's not interesting enough for people to read." or "What will people think of me?" You just write and it feels good!
By the way, thanks for joining the MyBlogLog community ;)
Nice call for comments on a "post for myself" article. Got me chuckling for some time.
And I guess that's the answer, isn't it? That we desire connection and feedback. The question of why we blog is an important one. For example, I found when I really looked at it that I was trying to be something I wasn't.
It's hard to be truly personal and open in a public forum. Much better to focus on writing for oneself.

Sean -- I agree. It's better to post for yourself. Makes you more real, vulnerable, and true to who you are.
