Wedding Invitations: How Soon is Too Soon?

So we're having a little conversation between myself and a few family members. We're ~90 days out from the wedding... I think that it's time to get the invitations in the mail. My mom thinks that we need to wait a few more weeks. What do you think? Is it too early to mail the invitations? Do tell...
